I received the book trim healthy mama Cookbook by Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison from Blogging for Books free for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own, for more information please see my disclosure policy.
Over the past several months I have been working to dramatically change how I eat in order to help manage my chronic health problems. I was given the opportunity to review the cookbook Trim Healthy Momma Cookbook by Blogging for books. I am always looking for healthy options feed my family.
This cookbook is lovely, and is crammed packed full of delicious looking recipes. Each recipe has serving sizes and tips and tricks to help you adapt the recipe to your needs and wants.
This book has six large sections:
- One-pot meals
- Hearty Mains and sides
- Sunrise Eats
- Sweet Treats
- All things Smooth and Crunchy
I did find a few drawbacks to this cookbook. To begin with I received only the cookbook. I don’t have the book, Trim Healthy Mama Plan. This caused a bit of confusion for me. Each recipe is labeled with either an E, S or FP. The definition for these abbreviations can be found in the front of the book, but even with the limited definitions I was still unsure of what they mean and how the plan works.
I tried the recipe for the salmon patties and they were delicious. This recipe fits well into my current way of eating and it was also enjoyable for my children. I had given up on salmon patties because my previous recipe for salmon patties included saltines. I am now gluten-free so putting saltines into something is no longer an option.
The Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook offers three different options for replacing the salting crackers in the salmon patties. I love this feature because it meant I could use what was already in my pantry rather than having to go out and buy a special ingredient that I don’t keep around the house.
Each recipe is also labeled whether or not it requires everyday ingredients or special ingredients are needed.
I am looking forward to diving into this cookbook more and cook more of the recipes that are found within its abundant pages.
I do recommend that if you buy the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook that you also buy the Trim Healthy Mama Plan so that you have the entire plan clearly explained. The cookbook is packed full of healthy recipes, and I think that even if you choose to not follow the plan you will enjoy these delicious recipes.
