Traits of a Christ-Follower
The book, Five Traits of a Christ-Follower is a small, pocket-sized devotional book that is edited by Doug Nuenke– the US. President of the Navigators– is a wonderful book that has a more to teach than its size would lead one to believe. This little book contains five sections each containing small devotionals that are focused on teaching a new christian, or reminding a more mature Christian about some of the important character traits that should be found in a follower of Jesus Christ. Each reading is short and easy to read and is accompanied by a verse of scripture as well as some reflection questions at the end of each reading. This book is written by many different people who are either a part of the Navigators or ‘friends’ of the Navigators. A few of the contributors to this little devotional book include: Gary Thomas, Jerry Bridges, Jen Hatmaker along with many others.
This book doesn’t disappoint. I was surprised by its small size, but this little book is packed full of godly council and discipleship. Which doesn’t surprise me when you flip to the back and read the list of contributors. One of the elements that I really liked about this book was the depth of the content. I have read over several devotional books lately and at times they seem a bit too superficial. This book takes the reader deeper and really makes you think about how you are living your life as a Christ-Follower. It focuses on five specific traits, and shows the reader how these traits should be lived out.
A Great gift for any Christ-Follower
I believe this little book would be a great book to buy for a new Christ-Follower or someone who feels they want to dive a bit deeper in their faith. I also believe this would make a great little book to keep in the car for the times when we as moms are waiting in the car line, or other sort of event and instead of staring at our cell phones, maybe meditating on God’s instead. Whatever your intentions for this powerhouse of a book I recommend you grab several copies and share them with your friends.
