NIV Proclamation Bible: a Review

Proclamation Bible

The NIV Proclamation Bible

Most of you who read my blog often know I love writing about what I am learning in my Bible study. So when I was given the opportunity to review a new Bible I jumped at it. The NIV Proclamation Bible is a study bible. It has short bits of commentary before each book, wonderful notes in the beginning of the bible, a large concordance and a collection of maps in the back. This bible is a wonderful resource to anyone who is interested in digging deeper into God’s word.

This bible has some wonderful notes in the beginning before you even get to Genesis. These notes include a general introduction to the Bible itself and explaining what the Bible actually is, an overview of what the whole Bible contains, and an essay on the Historical Reliability of the Bible. These notes also include ideas on how to study the scriptures and apply them to your daily life.

I am excited about this as a study Bible. I am surprised by the size of the font. I assumed, because of the size of the book that the font would be larger, but I would rather wear my reading glasses and gain more content than to miss out on some of the commentary that is included in the book.

I would recommend this Study Bible to anyone who is diving into a deeper study of God’s word. I find that a good study bible can offer a good bit of insight into a passage of scripture simply by pointing the reader on to a deeper understanding of the text. This version has at its primary goal to guide readers to “Correctly handle the word of truth.” I believe those who worked together to bring this bible together has done a good job of that.
