Ideas for Easter Baskets

I had a similar post up a few days ago, and due to some problems with my blog I ended up losing that post. I apologize for any inconvience. Here is the post again.

We have never been a big Easter basket family. I occassionally would buy my kids candy for Easter, but I didn’t really want to participate in the egg hunts, or in the baskets of candy that supposedly appeared Easter morning delivered by the Easter Bunny. The whole concept felt false to me, and just doesn’t seem to fit in with the message of Easter that I want to communicate to my children.

We do occassionally buy gifts for our children for Easter. Usually something small because of buget constrains. We will even buy candy, I prefer to buy things that have a little more meaning and remind the kids what Easter is really about. So here are a few things that I found this year that I really love and have considered. I don’t know that we are doing much in the way of shopping this year, but I did want to share some favorites.

Isn’t it pretty! It is the NIV Life Application Study Bible in PINK! I love girly things. This one was on their marked down shelf because they had attempted putting someone’s name on it and it didn’t take well. So I got it 50% off. The regular price for this Bible is $74.99. So I got a GREAT deal.

Family Christian often has a shelf of Bibles like this one that are marked down. Right now though they have other Bibles that haven’t been tampered with that are also 50% off. If you are looking for a new Bible now is a good time over at Family Christian.

I also found this little cross necklace at amazon. Isn’t it darling?

Books are always a nice thing to have for children. Getting cozy on the couch reading a good book can be a precious time.

I hope you are able to find ways to remind our children what Easter is really about this year. Bunnies and candy can be find as long as we are remembering to be intentional about teaching our children the real meaning of the cross.

Our children depend on us to teach them the truth of the Bible.
